ALTAR SERVER NEWS

Are you interested in becoming an Altar Server?

  • Serving the Lord in a special way through more intimate participation in the liturgy
  • Learning more about how the mass and other liturgical celebrations are conducted
  • Forming new friendships among fellow servers
  • Developing leadership skills as you mentor other servers (skills that can even be highlighted on future college applications/resumes)
  • Receiving special graces available only to those who serve at the altar
  • Most importantly:  strengthening your relationship with God!

The Lord greatly blesses those who generously devote themselves to His service.  We are looking for parishioners (boys, girls, men or women) who have a calling to serve at the altar, at mass and other liturgical celebrations.

While the ministry of Altar Server is open to all members of the parish, there are specific qualifications for prospective servers.  These include:

  • Altar Servers may be men or women.
  • Altar Servers must be baptized Catholics, who have received their first Holy Communion.
  • They should be individuals who strive to live a moral and faithful life.
  • They should have no visible tattoos or facial piercings (other than ear piercings).
  • Servers should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities, and carry them out with appropriate reverence.
  • They should exercise proper decorum and attire.
  • They should be respectful of authority, and must be able to follow direction.
  • Candidates should understand the importance of this ministry and appreciate that it is a special calling to serve Christ and his Church at the altar.  They should exercise this ministry with enthusiasm, thanksgiving and humility.

If you are interested, please leave your name and contact information (phone and email) with the office at 886-2262.
