Apostolates

  • Catholic Daughters of the Americas
    The female complement of the Knights of Columbus, provides many social services to the parish, community and to the world. Local ministry consists of such things as visitation of the sick, help for the homebound, and support for priestly vocations. Meets 1:00PM on the third Saturday of the month. Changes in meeting times will be found in the bulletin. We generally do not meet June, July and August. We are open to practicing Catholic women 18 and older.
  • Knights of Columbus
    Ken Hipkins, Grand Knight. Local chapter of the international order that carries out fraternal, education and social projects in union with the pastor. Meet the first and third Mondays at 7:30PM. Open to Catholic men 18 and older.
  • Legion of Mary
    Karen Knoll, President. Local Praesidium undertaking spiritual works of mercy in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary. Weekly meetings 8:00am Saturday

Youth Ministry

  • The Klub
    Deacon Jim Kledzik heads up "The Klub" for middle schoolers. Watch teh bulletin for meeting time and activities.

Liturgy & Worship

  • Altar Guild
    Teams of 3-4 members meet Saturday morning for 2 hours every three months or so to clean and maintain the church for weekend Masses.
  • Choir: Vocalists or Instrumentalists
    Don Roe, Music Director. Commitment expected is 3-4 hours weekly including required rehearsals. Ability to read music is strongly preferred.
    Youth Choir: for children 4th grade through High School. Youth Choir accompanies the Saturday 5 PM Mass. Kathy Hawkins musical leader.
  • Commentator
    Michael Roman, chairperson. At weekend and holy day liturgies, the commentator greets the congregation and reads the Prayers of the Faithful. One can expect to be scheduled for one or more Masses per month at the hour of one's choosing.
  • Lector
    Michael Roman, chairperson. At weekend and holy day liturgies, the lector proclaims the Scripture one time or more per month.
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
    Rebecca Coburn, coordinator. Ministers distribute Holy Communion on Sundays and holy days, assist in setting up beforehand, and with the cleaning of altar vessels following Mass. Usually scheduled at one or more Masses per month at the hour of one's choosing, but must provide substitute when unable to attend. Training is provided
  • Ushers for Mass
    John Isenhath, chairperson .Ushers welcome guests, provide seating assistance, take up collections, and distribute bulletins at the weekend and holy day Masses and other religious services.
  • Ministry of Praise
    Members are committed to regular intercessory prayer for the needs of parishioners; it is recommended that they pray daily for various intentions listed in the monthly newsletter. Elderly and shut-in parishioners are especially encouraged to join this ministry. Contact Becky Arnott.
  • Perpetual Adoration
    Mary Thompson, contact person. Adoration takes place 24 hours a day in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Adorers make a commitment to spend one hour at the same time each week worshipping the Eucharistic Lord. Substitutes are available when needed.

Administration

Buildings and Grounds Committee
Darren Adair, chairperson.This group meets periodically to plan and organize various projects including landscaping, building & grounds repair, upkeep or replacement. Expertise in costing, contracting, repairing and other aspects of buildings
and grounds upkeep is desirable.

 

Library
Angie McFarling, librarian. Volunteers to work a few hours one day a week to perform library tasks, such as checking in books. A short training period is required.

 

    Parish Life

  • Baking for Parish Events
    Eve Sica, coordinator. Volunteers are called on 2-3 times a year to make cookies, etc. for parish receptions and similar events.

  • Bazaar Committee
    Maria Beck, chairperson. Organizes short-term fundraisers such as bazaars, yard sales, raffles, etc. throughout the year.

  • Funeral Reception
    When requested, volunteers help to prepare a light meal for family and friends after a funeral Mass. Mary Painter, Coordinator.
  • Parish Picnic Committee
    One-time commitment to organize the annual picnic in September.

  • Parish Social Events
    This group plans and carries out a variety of parish dinners and receptions throughout the year

Justice & Peace
Patrick Carne, Chair person. The committee responds to the needs of the deprived, neglected, and impoverished both within and beyond the parish community.

  • Respect Life Committee
    David Mello, chairperson.Volunteers coordinate Respect Life events, initiate advocacy and distribute pro-life literature. Time commitment varies with each activity.
  • Christmas Sharing
    Gudrun Grimes, chairperson. Volunteers plan, organize and supervise the collection and distribution of Christmas gifts to the needy.
  • Meals on Wheels
    Community effort in which volunteer drivers serve one hour on Friday, 3-4 times a year, delivering lunch to the elderly and the homebound.
  • SACRA
    Community effort in which volunteers serve from 9:00 - 11:30AM on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, aiding clients in need of food and other assistance. On Mondays, help is needed to carry cases of food from the Food Bank.
  • Prison Ministry
    Outreach to the local prisons is led by Deacon Jim Kledzik. Ministry is carried to Catholics and non-Catholics to the Middle River Jail, the Augusta Correctional Center and the Middle River Youth Center.
