The parish will make available a limited number of copies of a booklet “Praying with St. Paul” from the same publishers as “Magnificat” magazine. They have sold out the first printing but ours should be coming by the end of July. Watch the bulletin. The parish will pick up part of the $5 cost so you pay only $2! Take this year to learn about St. Paul and strengthen your mission of living the Gospel as a witness to others! FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO BRING A PICNIC FOR LUNCH on summer Wednesdays after the 12:05 Mass. It’s for all sizes (large or small) and all ages of families! EXCITING NEW SUMMER PROGRAM just for girls ages 14-17 meeting every Tuesday and Thursday now through August. Come join us for fun, service and spiritual growth too! The first meeting is this Tuesday, June 24 at 4 PM in Assisi Hall for small group discussions on God’s Sacramental Love for us. Then on Thursday June 26, come back to Assis Hall from 1:00-2:30 PM for service projects such as making rosaries, writing to soldiers or making meals for needy families. Don’t get burned by the summer heat! Bask in the gentle rays of the Son of God. For more information, please leave a message for Healther Orwig at the Parish Office at 886-2262. See today’s insert for other details. THE PARISH COUNCIL is pleased to welcome newly elected members Beverly Roach, John Isenhath, Richard Popeck and Olive Sheffey. There was another vacancy on the council with the resignation of Joe Burkholder earlier this year. The by-laws of the council provide that in such a case, the person who was the next highest vote-getter in a general election is to be appointed to complete the remainder of the term. Thus Father Jerry appointed Francis Chester for one year. The Council wishes to thank all those persons who were nominated and who took the time to investigate what a commitment to the council entails, especially to the seven of them who accepted the challenge. The Holy Spirit blessed us with a great slate of candidates this year! PARISH PICNIC: Make plans now to meet others in our parish family for great food, games and fellowship on Sunday, July 27 at the picnic pavilion at the Frontier Culture Museum from 4-7 PM. You bring a dish to share. Due to a generous donation from the Knights of Columbus, the parish will be able to supply most of the rest. Thanks Knights! SUMMER ADULT EDUCATION 2008: Tom Verga continues covering a range of topics on Catholicism in Columbian Hall at 10 AM every other Sunday. The next class on June 29 will be a presentation on apostolic authority and the role of Scripture in the church. Everyone is invited. The classes are separate topics so you can just drop in when sessions are meeting. VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL IS COMING July 21-25! Register today on-line or in the office or church vestibule for summer fun for kids Pre-K through Grade 5. Imagine kids hearing about God’s love for them and worshiping Him in powerful ways. Imagine amazing games and crafts and upbeat music that kids love! All this and much more! Catch us on our web site at www.stfrancisparish.org. Volunteers have fun too! Adults and young folks rising Grade 6 and above are welcome! Sign up now!
