Policy on who is eligible to use St. Francis as a venue for a wedding

Matrimony is a holy sacrament of the Catholic Church and is not to be taken lightly. Couples who seek this sacrament must be free to wed, thoroughly prepared and pledge to raise their children in the Faith. Our church facility is beautiful and richly adorned in a manner that glorifies our Lord.  It is not to be treated simply as a desirable venue for a wedding due to its grand decor. Therefore, the use of the church as a place for the wedding liturgy is regulated. Please do not register with our parish for the sole reason  to be able to use the church as a venue for your wedding.

A couple considering marriage at St. Francis must note that:

1.       The use of St. Francis of Assisi as a venue for a wedding is reserved for parishioners (registered here for at least six months prior to the wedding) and who intend to remain after the wedding as active members of the parish if they continue to reside in this area.

2.       The church may also be used by the children of registered parishioners in good standing.

3.       Former parishioners and non-parishioners having other family who are St. Francis parishioners in good standing are also eligible..

4.       One of the parties must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. He or she must be already registered at St. Francis unless he or she is a child of a registered parishioner. In this case, the child may have a home parish and we would require a letter from the pastor attesting to the good standing of the Catholic to be married..
